My Hands

May 03 2010

Hello everyone from LAUSD Central High #9.

The piece you’ll be performing is a collaboration. The lyrics were taken from different poems, essays, conversations and letters written by people who live in one of the roughest areas of San Francisco. They live in the community housing development that Mercy Housing runs there, the same organization that is building a new affordable housing community here in LA.

To help you get started, there are five different audio files posted here. The first is a full mix of the song, with every part and all of the solos balanced. The other 4 are rehearsal mixes, one per part. For each part listed, the part you are learning is mixed to the right, and everything else is mixed in the other ear. You can take one earphone out and just hear your part, or take the other out and hear everything else. Hopefully this will help you get the pieces down in time for the performance.

Good luck, and I can’t wait to hear it performed.
